Simon Somerville-Large


Managing Director and Founder of Laragh

With unrivalled knowledge of the Cambridge property market and thirty years’ experience of residential and commercial development, Simon Somerville-Large has successfully directed the development of more than 50 schemes throughout the city and surrounding areas.

Among these high-specification developments are the award-winning Parkside properties in central Cambridge, the Manor Farm CLT project at Stretham, luxurious new homes in Storey’s Way, Cambridge, together with the ‘art deco’ Tamara House apartments on Queen Edith’s Way and The Pastures luxury homes in Harston, another award-winning Cambridgeshire development.

Prior to founding Laragh in 2007, Simon held high-level positions at Wimpey Developments, Shepherd Construction and Camstead Homes. Galvanising his expertise and experience, Simon handpicks specialist teams for each and every project, creating unique design concepts and inspired solutions to deliver beautiful, unique homes that we can be proud of.

Andy has many years’ experience in residential development. From self-building his own home in 1984, Andy has always had a hands-on approach to house building, this is directly employed in ensuring that all aspects of property development, including site selection, planning, design, specification, construction and after sales service, are second to none.

Andy was previously Managing Director of his family firm Simpers Ltd, a well-known local Cambridge company, before selling it in 2016.

Andy and Simon have worked together on various projects in and around Cambridge. At the heart of everything we do is the creation of beautiful homes tailored to their surroundings in great locations, which keep our customers as the central focus.


  • Hannah Greenhow

    Sales and Marketing Director

    Professional: Integral to Laragh since 2013, Hannah’s 14-year career includes eight years with Savills development. Her customer-facing role involves key marketing management and taking care of buyers’ requirements.

    Passion: Inspired by the company’s commitment to its clients, Hannah loves working across Laragh’s landmark projects.

    Personal: It’s all about her two children, Bella their pampered pooch, fun with friends and holidays.

  • Claire Bland

    Aftersales Manager

    Professional: With a career that includes Commercial Manager for the Ministry of Defence and her own business, Claire brings a wealth of customer care experience gained from roles in the public and private sectors.

    Passion: Driven by Laragh’s exceptional customer care to ensure a great experience for every homebuyer, Claire loves seeing exciting developments through from completion to aftercare service with happy new homeowners.

    Personal: Together with a full family life, Claire enjoys anything arty and creative, especially when she can combine her organisational skills with creative flare.

  • Caroline Chapman

    Finance Manager

    Professional: In charge of Laragh’s finances since 2016, Caroline brings 20 years’ accounting experience gained across various business sectors.

    Passion: Loves Laragh’s approach to building unique community schemes and being part of a fantastic team.

    Personal: Family, friends and keeping forever busy with two very lively young boys.

  • Fiona Somerville-Large

    Interior Design Manager & Company Secretary

    Professional: A founding partner in 2007, Fiona brings a decade of specialist interior design excellence to give Laragh homes their trademark style and elegance.

    Passion: Takes great pride in the company’s achievements, especially the Corporate Social Responsibility Award for the Manor Farm scheme in Stretham.

    Personal: Time with family, cooking, travelling, theatre and managing the renovation of her family home.

  • Steven Walder

    Group Finance Director

    Professional: Steven joined Laragh as Financial Consultant in June 2019 following his previous role at RBS/Coutts. With 24 years’ corporate banking experience, his professional qualifications and skilled investor relations brings a wealth of real estate sector banking knowledge to the business.

    Passion: Working with Laragh to help deliver exceptional returns through insightful financial management.

    Personal: When not refereeing his daughter’s football team, Steve enjoys travel, running, following the England Cricket team and wine, often together.

  • John Lorimer

    Development Director

    Professional: John joined in 2018 following 23 years with Cambridge estate agencies, including his own business. With an in-depth knowledge of the property market, he knows what Cambridgeshire homebuyers are looking for and how to source the best development locations.

    Passion: Laragh’s unique professional culture and the team’s passion for delivering excellent quality homes.

    Personal: John enjoys running, the great outdoors, and time spent with his family.

  • Paul Lawrence

    Construction Director

    Professional: Paul brings 23 years of construction industry experience working with UK leading contractors. He joined Laragh Homes in 2020 to oversee operations, from pre-construction through to completion and handover.

    Passion: Working with the Laragh team and our chosen contractors to successfully deliver exceptional homes that we and our clients are proud of.

    Personal: Paul enjoys time with his family, often spent on the sideline supporting their football teams or chauffeuring to triathlon events. Keen on most sports, particularly football and Formula 1.

  • Hellena Barnes

    PR Consultant

    Professional: As an editor and writer on national magazines for many years, Hellena brings her own style of communication, PR, marketing and copywriting talents to the team.

    Passion: Sharing Laragh’s latest news, amazing achievements and magnificent projects in the press, online and across social media to build brand awareness.

    Personal: Making the most of time with family, friends, her daughter Angel and their crazy Cockapoo – loves to spa and also does a bit of wild swimming.

  • Marie Baggaley-Gray

    Project Administrator

    Professional: With a strong background working as a director-level PA, Marie’s highly motivated approach and organisational skillset provides professional support for the Laragh Build team across exciting development projects.

    Passion: Marie’s keen interest in renovation, design and interiors is inspired by Laragh’s passion for delivering exceptional developments.

    Personal: Loves long dog walks, great food and spending time with her husband and three daughters.

  • Dave Clarke

    Site Manager

    Professional: Dave joins the Laragh team with more than 20 years’ experience in construction, working on projects from building new bridges and apartment developments to traditional new-build homes and energy efficient Passive properties.

    Passion: Being part of Laragh’s vision to deliver quality homes built to the highest standards, and the satisfaction of handover to homeowners when their beautiful new property is complete.

    Personal: Dave enjoys exercise, running half marathons, participating in cycling events and spending time with his family and dogs.

  • Ella Houghton

    Sales and Marketing Co-Ordinator

    Professional: Ella works alongside Hannah Greenhow, assisting with all marketing aspects for current and future developments, liaising with agents and taking care of homebuyer’s requirements.

    Passion: With a family background in property, Ella has an instinctive understanding of how the market operates, and with a keen eye for interior design, she knows what it takes to create the perfect home.

    Personal: Spending time with her family, friends and dogs. Ella also loves cooking, walking, and a trip to the pub at the weekend!

  • Darren Harding

    Senior Quantity Surveyor

    Professional: Darren brings 35 years of commercial construction industry experience gained with some of East Anglia’s most reputable companies. He now oversees all aspects of quantity surveying for Laragh, from pre-construction through to completion and handover.

    Passion: Working closely with chosen contractors to successfully deliver exceptional properties and presenting Laragh clients with high-quality new homes.

    Personal: Together with cycling, golf, football, fishing and scuba diving, Darren also has a passion for making furniture.

  • Ruth Grammer

    Office Manager

    Professional: Ensuring the smooth running of Laragh’s busy office, Ruth’s career across the retail sector brings experience in administration and project management, together with strong organisational skills and attention to every detail.

    Passion: Loves being part of the dynamic team, learning new things and seeing the exciting stages of Laragh’s property projects develop from build to beautiful new homes.

    Personal: Enjoys long scenic walks, especially in the highlands of Scotland, spending time with friends and family, and discovering great places to eat.

    Site Manager

    Professional: With a successful track record in site management and project management, Bogdan brings more than 20 years of professional construction experience working across timber frame, barn conversions, RC frame and residential developments.

    Passion: Committed to Laragh’s ethos for creating high-quality homes and thrives on building a strong team by working closely with all involved to deliver the very best for every project.

    Personal: Bogdan’s personal motto is always ‘look on the bright side of life’. Loves dancing, playing bridge, DIY, and family time.

  • Richard Few

    Senior Quantity Surveyor

    Professional: Richard’s experience spans more than 45 years in the construction industry. Having worked on a vast number of developments and within diverse sectors, he leads Laragh’s quantity surveying operations from pre-construction through to completion.

    Passion: Ensuring that a high-quality product is delivered on time and within budget to provide the best professional service for every Laragh project.

    Personal: A keen vegetable gardener, Richard enjoys time with an ever-increasing family, walks with his wife and their dog, socialising with friends and holidays in Corfu.

  • Mark Timbers

    Assistant Site Manager

    Professional: Having worked in the construction industry for 25 years, Mark has gained experience working on refurbishments, new build houses, and even boat houses! After initially training as a plasterer, Mark went on to gain a senior position at a local building contractor.

    Passion: Committed to delivering high-quality homes and ensuring customers are delighted with their purchase.

    Personal: Mark enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children. At the weekend, he can normally be found at a BBQ or watching the F1/Speedway.

  • Becca Dempsey

    Purchase Ledger Assistant

    Professional: Becca has gained experience working in various financial roles and prides herself on her diligent and thorough attitude to work. She also has experience in admin & customer service-related roles.

    Passion: With a long burning interest in renovation and interior design, Becca has recently started on her own home project and enjoys discussing design ideas with the Laragh team.

    Personal: Becca’s main focus is on her young daughter, partner and Frenchie. Outside of family, Becca likes to indulge in her inner foodie, cooking and eating out when she can, and a trip to the spa!
