Perfect conditions achieved inspiring results for the cross-country challenge staged at Alconbury Sports & Social Club on Sunday.
It was blue skies all the way across Cambridgeshire for the second BRJ Laragh Duathlon 2018 sponsored by Laragh Homes. The event, which took place on Sunday 21st October and organised by BRJ Run & Tri, featured Sprint distance and Standard distance duathlons (Run-Bike-Run) through beautiful areas of Alconbury countryside.
“Our event went extremely well and saw inspiring performances from 74 experienced athletes as well as first-timers,” said Gilles Corby, Race Director. “Among the newcomers was Martin Amos, who achieved second place in the Standard distance, demonstrating that this race is open to everyone.”
Ideal conditions of uninterrupted sunshine, fine temperatures and almost no wind produced impressive results for both female and male participants. First across the Sprint race finish line were Pip Infanti and Thomas Greeves from Rugby Triathlon Club, with Caroline Woods from Yaxley Runners and Adrian Beer from BRJ Run & Tri hailed as winners of the Standard race.
Laragh Homes provided the medals and 2018 race bluff mementos for every finisher. The company’s Managing Director Simon Somerville-Large, who also took part in the duathlon, said: “This was a superb community event, welcoming newcomers and challenging seasoned athletes alike. Congratulations to all the competitors and thank you to everyone involved; from the marshals and crew to Alconbury Sports & Social Club for providing such a great Race HQ facility.”
